Volunteering at TRAIN is an excellent way to develop your own skills, whether you’re looking to gain experience in youth work or simply expand your understanding of community engagement. You’ll work alongside professional youth workers, gaining insights from experts in the field. What are we looking for? Essentials Commit to at least a year with us. To have a passion to work with and help young people in need and supporting their development. Listening skills and a non-judgmental attitude towards young people. To value and practice good teamwork. An ability to empathise with young people at risk. Treat all young people with respect and dignity. Work within our Health and Safety guidelines and Policies for working with young people. To attend essential training to help with development. Attend a one-to-one meeting with a youth worker every month. Previous experience of working with young people at risk, or related fields. Desirables To attend additional training which would be beneficial to your role as a Volunteer for TRAIN Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to young people from diverse backgrounds. What will you be doing? Assist in planning and delivering youth activities and programs. Engage with young people in various settings, such as youth clubs, parks, and community spaces, providing support, mentorship, and guidance. Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff members to ensure the smooth running of activities and events.
