Objective of the role
Are you a self-motivated and customer-focused administrator with experience in technical support? Join our passionate Building Control department working in the Richmond and Wandsworth shared service. You will be joining a large team that provides statutory Building Control functions dealing with applications from small residential alterations and extensions to high-risk buildings. You will be part of a large team of Building Inspectors that undertake site and plan inspections registered to the Building Safety Regulator. The industry has gone through several changes over the last year with the introduction of new Acts and Regulations. You need to be committed to serving the residents and design agents to ensure buildings are safe and compliant.
About the role
A key part of the role is the registration, administration, and monitoring of all Building Control applications, producing reports and documents. You will be dealing with large volumes of telephone calls and providing effective and efficient technical support to the Building Control team and members of the public. You will also be liaising with service areas within the directorate. Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
1. Customer service - Experience in a similar technical support role in an office environment with the ability to work effectively and efficiently to enable the service to operate and deliver excellence.
2. Workload Management - Ability to deal with a varied workload in a busy environment, willingness to learn, flexibility, and help with technical support processes. Enjoy challenges with a problem-solving approach.
3. IT skills - Relevant IT skills to input and maintain various databases used throughout the service and demonstrate excellent communication skills with team members and customers.
4. Industry knowledge - Some knowledge of Building Control or a similar industry, quality management systems, and processes.
5. Personal development - Willingness to undertake professional qualifications in the field as a Building Control Technical Support Officer.
