Rowing takes place on one of the best stretches of the river Thames, with over 7km uninterrupted water between the Molesey and Teddington Locks. Crews launch from the School’s purpose-built boathouse, the Sherriff Boathouse, based in Thames Ditton, opposite Hampton Court Palace, approximately 3.5 miles from the main school site and adjacent to the School’s ‘Ditton Field’ Sports Ground. The school has enviable reputation for success in rowing with many students going on to achieve success in national competitions and to secure international vests over the years and alumni include rowers who have gone onto success at the highest level including Olympic Gold medallists, James Cracknell OBE and Sophie Hosking MBE. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Rowing to lead and develop our rowing programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of rowing within the school, ensuring a high standard of coaching, fostering a culture of excellence, and supporting students to achieve their potential both on and off the water. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow the school's rowing programme while maintaining a strong tradition of competitive success. We offer a competitive salary with a generous benefits package for this role and the contract is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Monday, 3rd March 2025 with interviews and coaching observations taking place during the w/c 17th March 2025. Prior to interview, an online search will be conducted to identify any past or current incidents or issues that might affect your suitability to work with children and undertake this role. This is in line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education. Please note this online search will be carried out only on publicly available information and be limited to issues relating to your suitability to work with children and/or in a school environment. Issues that arise will not automatically be a bar to your employment at this school. Kingston Grammar School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
