Job Description: Duty Shift Manager Up to £65,000 per annum 18-month FTC Monday – Friday, early and late shifts on weekly rotation (7-3/3-11) Onsite - Arlington Your new role As a Duty Shift Manager for our Arlington site, you will be responsible for the Control of teams overseeing programme activities, Staff and team development, and continuous improvement into productivity and efficiency. Site operational responsibility including, Health & Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery Manage all aspects of Health and Safety for area of responsibility being the POC for the team on shift. Effective leadership across a range of areas aiming to hit QCDS KPIs Formal and informal management of behaviors of team Facilitate continuous improvement and problem-solving activities Interact effectively with support departments Contribute to building a culture of sharing good practice across the site. Lead daily communication meetings. Deputise for Outstation Manager when required. Development of the initial and ongoing operational processes and procedures relating to the activities and tasks carried out on Hitachi rolling stock assets. Incorporate best practice and lessons learnt. Responsible for writing the necessary operational process and procedures, gaining H&S team approval and submitting documents to the quality management system Lead and support commissioning of the depot special tools and equipment as instructed. These are to include depot protection systems, depot cranes, drop facilities, Jacks, and servicing roads. Take the lead in the continued development of the SAP maintenance management system (MMS). Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure all requirements are captured and delivered. Development of core team - act as lead and mentor to the initial testing and support teams both in the UK / Japan and the continued expansion of the depot teams. Continue to be the focal point for all depot operational issues during testing and into operational passenger service. Support the material management team with the material stores. Management of the teams to ensure all materials are correctly booked out of the stores and any materials being returned to the stores for repair and correctly labelled and process is followed. Lead an on train practical review of all modification tasks, feedback any potential improvements to the technical author as part of the continues improvement loop. Responsible on a shift basis to ensure that the team delivers the contractual requirements for availability and that the train fleet is made available to the correct standard to meet contractual requirements. To ensure all contractual KPI’s are complete for each train before entering service To ensure that all records are completed and entered the maintenance management system. Organise resources and prioritise activities to undertake planned and unplanned traction and rolling stock engineering activities. Responsible for the safe movement of rolling stock. Responsible for the recruitment of the team members and their continued development. Control costs through planning of resources. Identify and deal with hazards in the railway environment, work with the QHSE engineer to mitigate risk Gather and execute production plans from the Production Planner Manage disciplinary issues, undertake staff appraisal for the maintenance teams as required. Carryout assessments in line with the depot competence management system as required About you Manual Handling, COSHH Qualified assessor capable of direct and indirect assessment. Proven service delivery experience in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment. An experienced rolling stock maintenance technician Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environments. NEBOSH or IOSH trained Management of large diverse technical teams who will be working on a shift Rolling stock test, approvals and commissioning experience preferably gain from a previous modern rolling stock fleet introduction. Extensive preventative and corrective rolling stock maintenance experience. To include modern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics. Competent with stores, spare parts logistics and material management. Extensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis. Extensive experience of modern rolling stock remote diagnostic train systems to include train / landside communication and landside diagnostic filter requirements and capabilities. Proven competency in delivering reliability improvement plans and understanding of reliability prediction tools. Qualifications M & E HNC or served engineering apprenticeship.
