Job summary To provide a full and comprehensive medical secretary assistance to the Birmingham Neuroendocrine Tumour Service working for both Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The successful post holder will form part of the wider liver medicine medical secretarial cohort and be responsible for liaising with Multi Disciplinary Teams both at the Trust and also tertiary centres. The successful post holder will need to have excellent organisational skills in order to navigate through liver pathways and work with diligence to ensure both new and follow up patients into this discipline are captured accurately and followed up in the timeframe that ensures their surveillance is maintained. Main duties of the job To be a key administrator in the delivery of the neuroendocrine tumour service pathway, taking a proactive role in overseeing pathways from preparatory MDT work to facilitating all outpatient reviews. To liaise daily with tertiary centres and Allied Healthcare professionals to ensure all adequate surveillance imaging is tracked and available for consultations. To be a point of contact both for clinicians and clinical nurse specialists in this field of liver medicine who support liver cancer patients and their families. The postholder will deal with oncology (Cancer) issues so will need to have an empathic nature and recognise that although a liver medicine medical secretary, for this particular role, patients will all have neuroendocrine tumours so being proficient in being able to deal with sensitive issues would be advantageous.
