Job Purpose The role will provide comprehensive project management, communications, and data support across the Research Culture and Development (RC&RD) portfolio and the Governance, Policy & Integrity (GPI) portfolio and wider Research Services team. Supporting the UofG role as a HEI pilot participant in the REF People, Culture and Environment (PCE) pilot project. Including: The preparation and submission of a) the UofG Institutional pilot submission and b) the five Units of Assessments pilot submissions. Reviewing and reporting on the Institutional and UoA level experience and learnings from being participants of the REF People, Culture and Environment (PCE) pilot project. This post will play a key role in a cross-functional team to administer and support the development of research strategic initiatives, including providing information about the University’s research performance. Undertaking analyses and problem solving to inform decision making in research culture and research enhancement – strengthening the University’s research environment. Main Duties and Responsibilities As a HEI pilot participant in the REF People, Culture and Environment pilot project (PCE pilot) supporting strategic objectives and help drive strategic decision making. This role will include: Contribute to the formulation of critical analyses to shape strategic plans related to the PCE pilot and advise senior colleagues in relation to these analyses. Validate, prepare, analyse and assess institutional research culture data for the PCE pilot. Support central and UoA PCE pilot leads by compiling and translating data into engaging data stories identifying key messages and trends. Taking creative approaches to the visualisation and reporting of research culture data. Provide key support for the PCE pilot, including preparing data packs and recommendations for supporting materials for future annual research review processes (or equivalent exercises) and collating and compiling PCE REF-related data in support of the University’s future submissions. Support the Research Enhancement Data and Policy Officer to manage the PCE REF-related data within GPI portfolio’s retention schedule with the Data Protection and FOI Offices, ensuring GDPR compliance; and providing expert advice to R&I staff on issues relating to GDPR and data retention. Provide data processing support, including: liaising with other University Services and College PCE Leads and Research Managers to assist in preparing data for the PCE pilot and support the Research Enhancement Data and Policy Officer to maintain PCE REF-related records. Provide accurate and efficient communication with UofG PCE pilot leads supporting the dissemination of PCE pilot related updates. Provide accurate and efficient communication with the wider UofG community on updates related to the PCE element of REF 2029. Support the development of the Institutional submission and support the UoA PCE pilot leads with development of the 5 UoA submissions. Support the review of draft submissions and final submission for the PCE pilot. Review and evaluate the UofG’s experience of taking part in the PCE pilot and report learnings and suggest recommendations for REF 2029. Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s). Or Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework Level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role. Working knowledge of data management processes from project initiation to project end. Knowledge of project management methodologies. Familiarity with equality, diversity, and inclusion policies, GDPR, records management and data protection, health and safety and broader safeguarding approaches and policies as they are used in Higher Education. Desirable: Thorough knowledge of University and Higher Education procedures and current issues affecting the University, specifically in research culture, researcher development and research policy. Skills Essential: Ability to create, maintain and interrogate databases and spreadsheets using current versions of administrative software packages and Microsoft Office software. Strong analytical abilities to logically assess data and prepare reports/briefings incorporating data. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to use initiative and work proactively, simultaneously handling and prioritising diverse complex tasks, exercising independent judgement while meeting deadlines. Ability to understand and apply policies, regulations, guidelines, and standard operating procedures relevant to the role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that can be applied to varied and complex tasks. Ability, with line management support, to successfully challenge existing practice to bring about change. Proficient user of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, Zoom and similar online applications. Excellent organisational skills and proven high level of attention to detail. Tact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality. Desirable: Ability to apply relevant statistical analysis methods. Strong data modelling and visualisation skills, particularly with QlikSense. Experience Essential: Experience of working with data and producing a range of data analysis, including visualisation. Experience of analysing/evaluating/interpreting data to inform decision-making and service improvements. Experience of working in a complex environment and communicating with different teams. Experience of project management and collaborative working. Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) and building effective relationships. Experience of problem solving, planning, organising, and setting priorities. Experience of decision making, involving independent analysis and judgement. Experience of drafting papers and reports for various audiences. Experience of working calmly and methodically within a pressurised environment. Desirable: Experience using data analysis tools such as QlikView/Sense or other Business Intelligence software (Tableau, PowerBI). Experience using University systems such as HRCore, and Enlighten, or similar corporate database systems. Experience of clerking meetings. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 6, £33,232 - £36,924 per annum. This post is full time (35 hours) and fixed term for up to 6 months.
