Senior Safety Case Consultant Location: Milton Park, Abingdon Hybrid working (roughly 60% office based) Salary: £54,000-£60,000 (depending on experience) Nuvia is growing its consultancy business unit and is looking for capable professionals to join the safety case team. The role will entail working alongside our customers or supporting our internal engineering department, on a range of nuclear technology, defence and decommissioning projects. You will spend your time split between working at home, our Milton Park office and visiting customer sites subject to project requirements. You will report to a Managing Consultant, with development and project delivery support also provided by Principal Safety Case Consultants. Responsibilities As the Senior Safety Case Consultant, you will also be involved in the following: Deliver safety assessments for a wide range of nuclear facilities and operations, Produce high quality safety case documentation, Lead hazard identification studies, Perform independent verification of safety case deliverables, Participate in interdisciplinary project teams, Contribute to design reviews and engineering substantiation, Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, Participate in the tendering process, Develop an expert level of competence in specialist technical topics, Provide technical advice and support to less experienced Consultants, Champion effective safety culture. Qualification & Experiences To be considered for the Senior Safety Case Consultant role you should have the following: Essential Degree qualified in a scientific, technical or engineering subject, or equivalent experience, Chartered status with a professional institution in a relevant field, or working towards chartership, Previous industry experience in Safety Case working in a highly regulated industry, Author of safety justifications, safety assessment reports or safety case reports subject to rigorous quality assurance standards, Independent practitioner of several hazard identification and safety assessment techniques, Understanding of the purpose and content of safety cases, Quantitative understanding of risk and reliability, Proficient in writing precise safety requirements or safety functional requirements. Desirable Full UK driving licence, Understanding of regulatory expectations for nuclear safety in the UK, Supplementary skill in a related discipline such as fire safety, external hazards, shielding, criticality, radioactive waste management or systems engineering, Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
