Senior Site Engineer
North West
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Site Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try.
We will require you to provide the primary setting out, line, level and set out the works as required using industry standard EDM/GPS/Levelling Equipment. To check the works to meet the Programme and Specification requirements and to supervise the Quality Management requirements of the Contract, in line with the Business Management System. We would also expect you to oversee the technical aspects for the Engineering elements of the project, inclusive of sub-structure, drainage, underground services, frame, envelope, and internal works as well as any temporary works in addition to maintaining contemporary records for the progressive and completed works, for measurements, reconciliation, and record purposes.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Manchester area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
What you will be doing:
1. Oversee and support the Management of the works, specifically the Engineering elements to align with Galliford Try's Safety Management Policies and industry standards to create a safe working environment.
2. To robustly implement the Business Management System to achieve the Quality expectations of the project in line with the Contract, Specification and Drawings. Writing and reviewing PQP's, ITP's and overseeing implementation with the progressive compilation of on site Quality Inspections.
3. To have/acquire sufficient technical knowledge of Construction, Engineering, and other elements of the build to oversee and support the undertaking of the works. Provide information to operatives and Sub-Contractors and co-ordinate the works with all parties.
4. To implement the works in line with the Contract Programme and to carry out all tasks as directed by your supervisor to the best of your ability and to agreed timescales. Inputting into and drafting Programmes for the works using Asta.
5. Implementation of Delivering Excellence.
6. Demonstrate commitment and a positive attitude to Supervisors, Management, Consultants and Supply Chain.
7. To take responsibility of monitoring and recording the progress of the project and your own duties and responsibilities. Recording daily diaries along with photographic evidence/records.
8. Undertake Material Quality checks for compliance, and reconciliations.
9. Use, manage, calibrate all setting out equipment and to look after all equipment in your control. Minimum expectations are EDM and Electronic Levelling equipment, enabling transfer/interpretation of CAD information.
10. Undertake As Built surveys and log data.
About You:
1. Ability to work safely
2. Read and interpret drawings and other data formats
3. Good communication skills - verbal, written and digital
4. Confident in setting out techniques
5. Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
6. Quick to learn and strives for continuous improvement in everyday tasks
7. Flexible with the ability to solve problems and find solutions
8. HNC level as a minimum however a Degree in Civil Engineering would be preferential
9. Relevant CSCS Card
10. SMSTS
11. Computer literate in MS Word, XL, CAD and the use of Common Data Environments such as View for Projects and Field View or similar
12. Desirable to have a good working knowledge of Asta Teamplan or Power Project
13. Industry Professional body membership
14. Previous experience in a similar role for a tier one contractor
15. Ability to work between multiple sites at any one time
