Would you like to use your scientific knowledge in a medical publishing environment, where you will communicate science to the wider scientific community? Due to expansion, a successful London based STM publisher is looking for a Scientific Editor to join their journals editorial team. Based in London, the Scientific Editor will be responsible for editing scientific and technical manuscripts, and will also be involved in the peer review process and evaluating the content of manuscripts. Our client is offering a hybrid working arrangement of 1 day in the office.
This is a key role in the team and would suit a candidate who is looking to pursue a career within biomedical publishing.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
1. Copyediting manuscripts for language and readability
2. Checking factual content and dealing with queries
3. Assessing authors responses to edits and editorial comments
4. Involvement in the peer review process, including identifying problems with plagiarism
5. Collaborating with the wider scientific community and internal teams
The successful person will have:
6. Educated to PhD level in the life sciences (Essential).
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. The ability to manage high quality work whilst working to tight deadlines.
9. The ability to maintain a level of scientific knowledge appropriate to the role.
10. Strong IT skills.
11. Editorial or publishing experience is desirable,
