Experience working in housing law, tenant rights, or personal injury law is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal matters clearly to clients. Experience in litigation, including representing clients in County Court and negotiating settlements. Familiarity with UK housing law, including Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, and other relevant housing regulations. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Housing Condition Claims Lawyer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to represent tenants in legal matters involving unsafe and substandard living conditions. Candidates will play a pivotal role in ensuring our clients' housing conditions meet the legal requirements for safety and habitability. This role will involve some advocacy and will involve robustly defending a high volume of claims, liaising with client departments and, if approved, briefing counsel. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert legal counsel and representation to tenants facing housing issues such as, pest infestations, inadequate heating, and other unsafe living conditions. Investigate claims, collect evidence, and prepare legal documents, including complaints, motions, and settlement agreements. Negotiate settlements or represent clients in court to ensure tenants' rights are upheld and landlords meet their obligations under housing laws. Stay current on housing laws, tenant rights, and building codes to effectively advocate for clients. Work with landlords, property managers, and insurance companies to reach favourable resolutions for tenants.
