We have exciting new opportunities for Sergeants/ Detective Sergeants to transfer to Police Scotland for a post in Shetland.
These vacancies are for level transfer at your current substantive rank.
If you're a serving officer in a recognised Home Office Police Force in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the British Transport Police, you can be considered to transfer to Police Scotland.
You must have a minimum of three years service and be free from any outstanding complaints.
These vacancies give officers the opportunity to continue their career in demanding response or national policing roles in Scotland.

There is a package of benefits to support relocation for the successful applicant. Reasonable relocation expenses will be paid and police accommodation may be available (subject to the appropriate charge level).
It is worth noting that Officers posted to Lerwick receive an island allowance of £ per annum. In addition to this, Officers receive 3 concessionary return trips to the mainland per financial year.
This challenging role involves supervising, supporting and directing investigations of serious/complex and volume crime within the North Highland CID Area Command. This area covers the Shetland Isles. The post holder is also required to provide supervision and support to other North Highland CID colleagues according to demand. This role also includes providing support to operational teams and working closely with partner agencies as and when required.
Applicants should have previous knowledge and experience in the investigation of serious and complex crimes and have a proven record of investigative ability. Previous detective training is desirable but not essential.
Applicants should be highly motivated and able to demonstrate clear leadership, personal effectiveness and decision making skills. They must have the ability to accurately assess and make decisions based on intelligence/evidence gathered. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as is the ability to brief senior Officers.
The ability to work on own initiative along with strong supervisory, organisational and administrative skills are necessary.
Applicants must have a flexible approach to the role, which may on occasion be determined by the needs of an investigation.
