The Crisis Support Space extends the range of mental health crisis support available to people experiencing psychological distress and/or suicidality. The integrated model of service where care and support is delivered by a combination of non-clinical peer support workers and mental health clinicians will complement existing mental health alcohol and other drugs services across the West Moreton HHS. Drawing on their own lived experience, Recovery Mentors provide non-clinical support and person centred-care. The role works closely alongside mental health clinicians to provide appropriate and responsive care in a warm welcoming environment. Your day may look like; Provide inspiration and motivation through facilitating educative Peer Support presentations to clients and staff Sharing coping strategies and mindfulness activities to assist clients with self regulation Advocate for clients needs and liaising with staff regarding referrals You will need: Certificate IV in mental health non-clinical, mental health peer work and some relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience working with people with mental illness Ability to work collaboratively with people accessing the service, families/carers, colleagues, Qld Health professionals and other stakeholders Lived and experience of mental illness recovery and the ability to use this in your work practices Ability to use person centred recovery-oriented and trauma-informed principles in providing support to people at risk of suicide A strong sense of professional boundaries and integrity Valid driver’s license and access to a registered roadworthy and insured vehicle (minimum third-party property) Willingness and ability to undertake vaccination of preventable diseases that complies with the Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases - Qld Health Policy Directive Why RFQ?
