About the role
The main duty of the role is to lead the research and teaching in the APL with focus on the critical challenge of decarbonizing the transport sector, including land, sea and air applications, as well as the generation of electrofuels to service these sectors, having a truly molecules-to-systems reach.
The successful candidate will lead on the development of research promoting the future of advanced propulsion; will carry out and publish high-quality world-class research which complements the existing departmental and Faculty activities; will secure research grant funding to support a vibrant research programme; and will maintain national and international networks and partnerships with industry, other academic institutions, government, and other relevant organisations to maximise research activities.
About you
The successful candidate will have a PhD/EngD in engineering, chemistry, physics or relevant discipline or will have relevant equivalent experience, as well as substantial international reputation in scholarship and research, or equivalent industrial experience, and an excellent publication record in international journals in engineering with emphasis on the areas of relevance to the post.
Equally important is vision, leadership and ability to manage a substantial research team, to train, guide and motivate research students and junior academic colleagues, and to establish a leading research presence within UCL.
