Job overview
We are looking for a self-motivated well-organised person with good communication skills who likes to work as part of a team but also has the ability to use their initiative and work on their own.
This role would suit those with proven admin and customer service experience to provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective service to Specialist Services within the Sensory Team, Disability Information and Accessible Information Services. The role may also entail providing administration support across Spec Services and other community teams depending on where demand is.
This post provides a single point of contact for both professionals in Health and Social care and the public and requires a prompt response to initial enquiries and referrals ensuring all information is gathered accurately.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for being the first point of contact dealing with callers in person, on the telephone, email, text and post.
2. Respond and be responsible for referrals and enquiries from Health, Social Care and the General Public.
3. Gather information to assess risks and needs, maintain a waiting list and allocate cases as required depending on urgency.
4. Complete reviews and appropriate records, action outcomes.
5. Provide comprehensive administration for the service, the team and the Manager.
6. Work in a busy environment and understand the complexities and communication needs of those with a Sensory Loss.
7. Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job.
Working for our organisation
The teams sit within the Torquay integrated Service covering the whole of Torbay. There is a base in Union House Torquay and a resource centre that runs from Paignton and offers drop-in sessions as well as group sessions facilitated by the team.
The teams have a wealth of specialist experience and excellent communication skills. We are motivated and passionate about providing a proactive service, being flexible and creative in meeting the needs of the community who have a sensory loss.

Qualifications and training
* GCSE passes at Grade C or above or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of a consistent pattern of learning from education, training and experience.
* Understanding of basic human needs – physical, emotional, health and social.
* Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
* Experience of working within a customer-facing environment.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* NVQ 3 in Social/Healthcare.
Knowledge and experience
* Awareness of Care Act 2014 legislation.
* Assessment & Care Management Process, policies and standards.
* Effective keyboard/IT skills, including accurate recording skills.
* Effective in using multiple database computer systems.
* Evidence of continued personal learning and development.
* Willingness to undertake training to develop within the role.
