As a PRE-CONTRACTS MANAGER the general purpose of the role is entails managing our Interior fit out projects from an initial client meeting through the pre-contract stage. This will include working with design development, estimating, technical evaluation, assembling documentation for tenders, and contract agreement up to the point of handover to the Contracts Manager who will undertake the build process thereafter. Key Accountabilities Ownership of ‘MES’ (Margin Enhancement Strategy) – targeted at a minimum 5% of post win improvement on margin. This is a client facing role working on projects ranging from c. min £50k to £500k Co-ordination of design and sub-contractor pricing. Preparation of detailed cost plans / budget guidance for client presentation and review. Full commercial aspects of projects until the point of handover to the Contracts/Project Manager. Professional Skills & Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a quantity surveying / estimating / pre contracts role with a D&B/TRAD company (not a must) or a small to medium main contractor. A good working knowledge of services installations, both electrical and mechanical. A strong awareness of the balance of risk and profit is essential. Good commercial understanding of the market and market values. Experienced negotiator. Excellent attention to detail. Experienced user of Microsoft Excel, Outlook & a planning software package such as ASTA Power project. Personal Attributes: Team Player Proactive and accountable attitude. Self-motivated. Results focussed. Well organised with good time management. The role will be within a small friendly team, an ability to work well with others and multitask where necessary. Confident.
