The NNUH is one of the largest Teaching Hospitals in the UK, providing first-class acute care for around one million people living in Norfolk and surrounding areas. Our Workforce represents 109 different nationalities from across the world. We are recruiting a Medical Director to join the Trust as an Executive member of our Board. In this role you will provide clear leadership and direction in respect of medical standards, safety, quality improvement and ensuring excellent patient care.
As a consultant with extensive experience and membership of the GMC specialist register, our Medical Director will advocate, exemplify and champion our PRIDE values. You will be supporting medical colleagues in maintaining high standards, ensuring clear accountabilities, whilst leading initiatives that drive continuous improvement and be a role model in exemplifying our PRIDE Values.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of our Medical Director will include:
1. Professional leadership of our medical workforce, providing coaching, guidance and mentoring
2. Leading the delivery of our workforce plans for medical staff including succession planning of senior clinical leadership roles
3. Developing relationships with partners in the community and health and social care system including the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS), GPs, health organisations, interest groups and patient reference groups
4. Promoting an organisational culture committed to learning, and working together to deliver our vision and strategic objectives
5. Chairing our Clinical Safety and Effectiveness Sub Board, and Mental and Complex Health Board.

About us
Our state-of-the-art Norfolk and Norwich Orthopaedic Centre opened in July and will carry out 2,500 orthopaedic cases a year.
We are implementing an Electronic Patient Record system to deliver better joined up care with our neighbouring acute hospitals.
Our Community Diagnostic Centre is due to open in early 2025, supporting up to an additional 900 scans per day as part of the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital collaborative.
