We are looking for a high-profile, dynamic leader with a passion for climate and environment issues to chair the Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) for the Cabot Institute for the Environment. The SAB plays an important role in guiding the Institute in developing priorities in research, education, and impact, and in providing new connections for the Institute for research partnerships. The SAB fulfills the following four functions to support the Cabot Institute to deliver its vision and strategy:
* Providing critical advice that helps shape the future of the institute.
* Helping raise the Institute’s profile and acting as ambassadors and advocates.

This is a high-profile role that will suit a senior leader with extensive experience in developing member-based organisations. A passion for interdisciplinary environmental research is essential.
The Institute’s role is to ensure that different perspectives are brought to bear on the global environmental challenges we face and in so doing create new, actionable knowledge. The Cabot Institute for the Environment was established as Bristol’s first flagship interdisciplinary research institute in 2010. As an Institute, we now bring together a community of over 600 researchers to form one of the largest and most successful clusters of environmental researchers in the UK. The Institute’s mission is to provide knowledge, evidence, education, and solutions that protect our environment and identify better ways to live within our changing planet.
As a virtual hub for world-leading interdisciplinary environmental research and life-long learning, we strive to be a space where all our members feel welcome and supported to understand and deliver new solutions to environmental challenges. Our Institute team acts to convene, connect, and empower people from around the world to unite on the most pressing global environmental issues of our time, to create transitions to a more just and sustainable future.
