The Role As a Sofar MC, you’ll be leading the show – making sure the audience feels welcome, our artists feel supported, the sets are transitioning seamlessly, and creating opportunities for audience members to interact with the artists and with each other. You'll also take on regular crew duties as needed, working closely with the team to ensure everything runs smoothly and on time. The majority of our shows take place on evenings and weekends, and we expect our crew members to commit to working multiple shows per month. Please see below for hourly rates in cities that we are currently hiring in. What you'll do: Get to know the artists Familiarize yourself with their bios, music, and socials. Establish yourself as the main point of contact for artists before, during, and after the show Manage the set lengths and help with artist transitions to ensure the show is running smoothly, safely, and on time Assist the artists performing at Sofar with load-in/setup and introduce them to the folks who help make magic happen behind the scenes – our gear runners and audio engineers Guide the show and make the audience feel welcome Work closely with the Crew team to ensure everything runs smoothly and on time Support the artists by helping them make the most out of their gig - this can include facilitating smooth transitions on stage, helping to sell and promote merch, driving signups to their mailing list and socials, and more Help artists break down and load out of the venue Who you are: You are a charismatic, engaging public speaker and comfortable presenting in front of a live audience Experienced in public speaking and/or presenting live events A musician or experienced in working closely with musicians in a live setting You are reliable and are able to handle high-pressure situations You have high interpersonal and problem-solving skills, especially in fast-paced situations You have a strong interest in music and genuine connection to supporting artists Must be able to move boxes up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation You are able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends £12.82 - £12.82 an hour The applicable wage for the position in each city is as follows: Birmingham: £ 12.82/hr About Sofar Sofar is creating space where music matters.
