Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking applications for the position of a Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology within the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology. The Doctoral Course is well-established and has a respected reputation for quality. The Salomons Institute is based in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, 10 minutes’ walk from the station and enjoys excellent administrative, IT and library support. We are looking for an Expert by Experience (someone who and has used NHS mental health or psychological services or is a family member of someone who has) to help co-ordinate Expert by Experience Involvement for the Salomons Clinical Psychology Doctoral Course within Canterbury Christ Church University.
The Course has an established network of people with lived experience who contribute to the learning of our trainees. This work is co-ordinated by Laura Lea, Co-ordinator of EbE Involvement, with help from Anne Cooke, Clinical Director of the course. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work both with trainees and with members of the public with lived experience to continue and consolidate the Course’s involvement work
You will have experience of university life and also of involvement activities in the NHS or healthcare more generally. You will have a commitment to working with diverse communities, including family members (carers) of those who use NHS services. Training and support will be provided.
You must be able to demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills and be happy to develop new initiatives. Good verbal and written communications skills at all levels are vital, as well as the ability to be sensitive to people’s needs and a commitment to trainee learning. In taking the role, you will recognise the opportunities and constraints that are part of the university environment.
You will assist the Coordinator of Expert by Experience Involvement to recruit and support members of the public participating in involvement activities on the Course. These include teaching, placement activities, research, selection of new trainees, assessment, and Course development. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to writing articles for publication.
You will develop positive relationships with members of the public, trainees, staff and stakeholder representatives with the intention and objective of enhancing the learning of trainee clinical psychologists. This will include speaking from your own lived experience of mental health issues and using mental health services (or of being a family member of someone who does).
The Course is based at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, part of Canterbury Christ Church University based in central Tunbridge Wells.

How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is flexible and connected (Academic & Student Facing). Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the service being delivered and to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. Days of work Thursday and Friday as necessary and with flexibility.
