Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic and experienced Design Management Technical Lead to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you’ll be doing
* Ensure compliance with the Group Minimum Engineering Expectations.
* Support the Tender process and Contract documentation.
* Manage Technical Queries and implement Technical Change process as required.
* Manage procurement of Design Services including competency assessments.
* Manage design risk in accordance with the CDM regulations.
* Produce a Design Management Plan in support of the Lead Design Manager.
* Manage design and engineering deliverables in line with programme.
* Maintain, manage and update the Design Submissions & Approvals register.
* Manage 3rd party consents to meet contract requirements, maintaining the Consents Register.
* Ensure all associated design interfaces are identified and managed.
* Chair Design Review meetings with Designer and Client.
* Ensure the designs have been subject to Inter-Disciplinary and Independent Design Reviews.
* Ensure that the design created suits the methodology adopted for construction.
* Gain full approval of the designs from all approving authorities.
* Manage interfaces with all temporary works designs as required by the Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
* Before construction commencement, ensure that design documentation has been approved.
* Implement a design handover to the construction team.
Who we’re looking for
* Professional membership with the ICE or equivalent is a requirement with proven experience at a senior level in implementing & delivering design strategies within a large complex major project.
* Leadership skills in a matrix organisation are required to deliver design services in a timely manner with a customer and sector-specific focus.
* Will know ‘what good looks like’ in bid submissions and work winning and have hands-on experience of delivering efficient design.
* Experience of change management and be able to demonstrate success around organisational transformation.
* Experience within the most current forms of procurement & detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material.
