Job description
We are looking to recruit to a temporary full-time family time contact worker working 37 hours per week to cover maternity leave. We are also looking for casual workers, so if you are interested, please note this on your application form.
This work may involve evening and/or weekend work. You will need to be flexible and committed and will be required to transport children and young people to the chosen venue to facilitate, observe, and support vulnerable children, young people, and families during contact with their natural parents.
You should have good customer service skills, which include displaying sensitivity and tolerance with people, being able to listen actively, and having good communication skills – both written and verbal. You will need to be able to work flexibly and work weekends on a rota for which enhanced rates of pay will apply.
You will need to be able to transport children and young people to venues across the city and have an understanding of child development, safeguarding, and child protection. You should be able to communicate effectively and build relationships with children aged from birth to 18 years, their families, foster carers, and other professionals in social services.
You will be IT competent and able to write up reports on our social care systems and contribute to their care plans.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year, and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part-time, or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
