The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Component Engineer?
* Working with the Electronic and Mechanical functions to support their component activities, including:
o Obsolescence identification and supporting the mitigation/resolution.
o Management of the ERP database and providing support to its engineering users.
o Carrying out all activities to appropriate engineering processes and procedures.
* Assist in selecting components to meet specific customer requirements and relevant standards.
* Keeping abreast of current legislation and ensuring it is adhered to within your own work and instructing/reviewing others to ensure they meet the requirements
* Responsible for providing planning and estimation input into Project Managers at the kick-off of new projects
* Take responsibility for updating/amending team processes and procedures in response to legislative changes or when cost/time improvements can be realized.
* Support other departments in resolving qualification, compliance, and safety issues.
* Engage in component risk identification and mitigation activities.
* Coach and mentor junior Engineers.
* Liaising with both internal departments and external suppliers.
What are we looking for in our next Component Engineer?
* HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electronics/Mechanical or a relevant subject,
* Good knowledge/understanding of component legislation and materials safety standards
* Experience of the whole product lifecycle within a defence or aviation environment.
* Knowledge of Component Engineering best practices, methodologies, processes and tools.
* Familiarity with one or more PMRP tools (IFS desirable) and/or SQL database experience.
