Job Summary
Due to a major expansion in our childcare services, we have an exciting opportunity to join Ponteland Childcare Ltd, a well-loved childcare provider located in the heart of Ponteland, just outside Newcastle Upon Tyne.
We’re looking for an experienced and confident individual to become the Room Leader for our new under-2s room at Henry’s Hut, which is due to open in January 2025. This is a key role in our expansion, and we need someone with the skills and maturity to provide exceptional care and education for our youngest children.
We are specifically seeking candidates who have recent leadership experience, or someone who is currently working as a Deputy Room Leader or Deputy Manager, within this age range. Your duties will initially be to assist the Director recruit a team of suitable Practitioners to work alongside you, in the new under 2s room, that you have helped design.
Qualifications & Training:
You should have a minimum Level 3 childcare qualification from a recognised awarding body.
Full understanding in the Early Years Foundation Stage, Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Special Educational Needs, Health and Safety and a willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate if necessary.
Leadership experience is key – you'll need to be confident in managing people, recruitment and staff development.
Excellent fluency in written and spoken English is a must.
Leadership Responsibilities:
As Room Leader, you’ll lead by example. Your professionalism and approach will set the standard for everyone else.
You'll contribute to team working and promote open communication throughout the nursery.
You’ll also play a role in recruitment, manage staffing rotas, and ensure that appraisals and supervisions happen regularly to help staff grow.
If there are any issues with staff or complaints, you'll handle them efficiently, working with the Manager or Director as needed.
You'll actively encourage best practices across the nursery, ensuring staff are recognised for their hard work and achievements.
And finally, you'll be dedicated to your own learning and development, attending local meetings and networking opportunities to keep up to date with the latest in early years education.

Work Pattern, Hours, and Pay:
This is a permanent, full time role for a Room Leader (after passing an initial 3-month probationary period).
The Nursery opening times are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, five days a week.
Full-time staff work no more than four days per week and will expect to start at 7.30am with an early finish, or a later start and a 6pm finish, up to 36 hrs per week (full time) with a 30-minute paid break each day.
We’ll confirm your specific hours during the interview and in your contract.
You’ll get 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year, staff discount for your child attending Henry’s Hut and an ongoing paid Continuous Personal Development programme.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
