Job Title: Manufacturing Manager – Aerostructures Department
Location: Redditch, UK
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum
Position Overview:
As the Manufacturing Manager in the Aerostructures Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor dedicated to the production of aerostructure components. You will lead a team of engineers and operators to ensure the efficient production of critical aerospace parts, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role is essential in supporting the growth and success of the business in the aerostructures sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of manufacturing staff within the Aerostructures Department, ensuring high performance and effective collaboration.
* Production Oversight: Manage production schedules, workflows, and resource allocation specific to aerostructure components, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in aerostructure manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
* Quality Control: Ensure that all aerostructure products meet the rigorous quality standards required in the aerospace sector, overseeing quality control measures and managing any issues that arise.
* ISO Accreditation Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace industry ISO standards, including AS9100 and other applicable certifications, and work towards maintaining and improving accreditation.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the manufacturing environment.
* Budget & Cost Management: Control the manufacturing budget for the Aerostructures Department, manage costs effectively, and work to meet financial goals while maintaining production efficiency.
* Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with engineering, design, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of production challenges specific to aerostructures.
* Reporting & Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and safety within the Aerostructures Department. Provide regular updates to senior management.
Key Requirements:
* Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, ideally within the aerospace sector, specifically with aerostructure or high-precision component production.
* Education: A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
* Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and developing teams, with a strong ability to drive performance and foster a positive work environment.
* Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies, particularly in the aerostructures domain.
* Aerospace Knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and quality control processes for aerostructure components.
* ISO Accreditation Knowledge: Proven experience with aerospace industry ISO standards, particularly AS9100, and knowledge of the accreditation process and compliance.
* Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to manage complex issues under pressure.
* IT Proficiency: Proficient in the use of manufacturing software and Microsoft Office suite. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
* Health & Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.
