An opportunity has arisen for a new wave of trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's) to join the Moving Mindsets Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Morecambe Bay. Would you like to work therapeutically with children and young people in education settings, to support their emotional health and wellbeing? If yes, then this role is for you!
We wish to appoint people who want to make a difference to the emotional wellbeing of children and young people in schools. We're seeking people who have direct experience of supporting children and young people and who are interested in learning about evidence-based therapies in child mental health.
The role involves providing therapeutic support to children, young people and their parent-carers and working in partnership with education settings, whilst also attending a university programme to qualify you as an EMHP. The university education programme has been designed specifically for the EMHP role, in partnership with Edge Hill University.
Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis to deliver mental health support across a range of educational settings in either North Lancashire or South Cumbria. The positions will be line managed within one team and we aim for this to be the team closest to the person's home address.
You will be employed by Barnardo's as a Project Worker 1 (NHS Band 4) post, gaining credits towards a post-graduate diploma level qualification throughout your year of study. On successful completion of the training, you will progress to a Project Worker 2 (NHS Band 5) EMHP post.
The service bases are situated in The Hub at Project John in Barrow, Stricklandgate House in Kendal and Northgate, White Lund in Morecambe. EMHP's work in schools and colleges in their designated team area.
We have created a friendly, caring and supportive service environment, with a strong ethos around providing quality and effective care for children and young people. Does this appeal to you? If yes, then please apply to join us.
Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are a national programme jointly delivered with the Department for Education, NHS England, NHS workforce, training and education, and NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NHS ICB). The programme has three main commitments:
* Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs
* Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
* Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education
Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing is a key component of Barnardo's Corporate Strategy and Mental Health Support Teams are part of this strategy.
We welcome enquiries from people interested in this role and are happy to facilitate visits or online meetings prior to interviews.
Interviews will be held at Project John, 20-24 Cavendish St, Barrow LA14 1SB.
