EC&I Designer - 12 Month contract - Based in Warrington
Location: Hybrid 3 days per week in Warrington office, 2 days from home
Hourly Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience (Inside IR35)
Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior EC&I Designer to join our team on a high-priority project based in Warrington on a contract basis. The role will involve providing expertise in EC&I design and engineering for the Clients Project. Occasional site visits will be required, ensuring the successful candidate can travel when necessary.
As a Senior EC&I Designer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality design packs, which include drawings, method statements, risk assessments, cable calculations, and other EC&I design documentation. You will also be expected to collaborate with various teams to ensure designs meet safety and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design Creation & Development: Produce comprehensive EC&I design packs (drawings, calculations, method statements, risk assessments).
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs adhere to relevant regulations, safety standards, and client specifications.
* Project Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure design and engineering requirements are met for the PFDO project.
* Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed EC&I documentation including technical drawings and design reports.
* Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and ensure the designs mitigate potential hazards and comply with safety protocols.
* Client Liaison: Engage with clients, particularly Sellafield, to ensure all design expectations and requirements are met effectively.
* Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience: Significant experience as an EC&I Designer/Engineer, with a proven track record in producing design packs, including all aspects of EC&I drawings, method statements, and risk assessments.
* Technical Expertise: Strong experience with AutoCAD and producing CE&I design drawings.
* Previous Sellafield Experience: Experience working on Sellafield or similar high-security, high-complexity projects is highly desirable.
* Electrical & Instrumentation Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of electrical and instrumentation engineering principles, particularly in designing and maintaining industrial control systems.
* Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Site Experience: Willingness to undertake occasional site visits to ensure designs meet the project’s on-the-ground requirements.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience working within the nuclear sector
* Proficiency in AutoCAD or other design software used in EC&I.
* Previous experience producing full design documentation including calculations, risk assessments, and method statements.
