ROLE SUMMARY Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for pricing tender enquiries for offsite projects, follow up enquiries, negotiate contracts and prepare tender documents for submission in a timely manner. ROLE DESCRIPTION Provide a costing service at tender stage for customer and clients using Conquest estimating software. Ensure that estimates prepared are cost effective and competitive within the sector. Expedite quotations lists on a weekly basis and update Conquest. Follow up each tender with the customer to ensure that business opportunities are capitalised. Meet with Commercial and Contracts management teams weekly pre-commencement of project to formally handover project, ensuring that the correct information is transferred to Manufacturing team. Price variations and extras during each contract before work proceeds Discuss and agree, in writing, variations and extras with the Commercial and Contracts Management team. Collate all final costs and prepare final bill for each project. Liaise with Commercial and Contracts management regularly on widening pool of sub-contractors and suppliers. Review and monitor project costs versus budgets on Conquest. Work with the wider McAvoy Team to effectively represent and grow the business and contribute to the culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Promote and ensure a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with SHE Policies and Procedures. Carry out other duties that are consistent with the job holders knowledge and skills to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives. Technical Competencies Essential Possess a relevant 3rd level qualification. Previous estimating experience (2-3 years) with a main contractor or construction company. Demonstrate experience across all stages of a project from concept to handover. Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes, internally and externally. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. High level of initiative and motivation. Excellent time management, project planning and organisational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to innovate, problem solve and adapt to changing client requirements. Desirable Skills Experience of different types of contract: JCT, NEC. Conquest experience.
