About the team The stations team on the St Ives line delivers a wide range of services to our customers, from being the first and last point of contact in a customer's journey, impartially selling a range of tickets and services, making sure our customers know where to go, providing information and onward travel advice, and helping to make the customer experience one to remember. The team is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment and ensuring that all the services provided at the station are delivered to the highest standards. Working in a busy and challenging environment, the stations team work tirelessly to ensure a great customer experience is delivered, even when things go wrong. About the job: As an S4 on the St Ives line you will confidently and impartially sell a range of tickets and services, including processing high volumes of sales, managing busy platforms safely and ensuring that customer requirements are exceeded. Customer assistance support as and when required. The postholder will provide information and onward travel advice to customers and ensure that the station environment is kept to a high standard at all times. Your main responsibilities will be: Working as a small team over Three stations on the St Ives line Providing the highest level of customer service and being proactive to customer needs Accurately and impartially selling a range of products and services to our customers in a friendly, professional and efficient manner Providing customer assistance Carrying out routine cleaning of the station environment. Safely manage busy platforms You'll need to be: Able to deliver exceptional front-line customer service Able to understand customer requirements and expectations A self-starter with a can do attitude Confident with making decisions Able to remain calm yet directive in a crisis Able to work to strict As a minimum you will need to have: The ability to work as part of a team or independently Evidence of numerical ability Attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication skills About the location The St Ives line consists of 3 seasonally staffed stations; St Erth, Carbis Bay and St Ives. All are small but busy stations in West Cornwall. It has good transport links to the surrounding area which become extremely busy seasonally, due to its proximity to the many popular tourist locations and venues. Working pattern Various shift lengths and days of work between Easter and October as the business requires. In high summer the role includes working full time hours which would be up to 35 hours per week. Additional information This position will run annually from Easter until October. Applicants successfully short listed will be invited to an interview which will take place on 30th January 2025. The successful candidate will be invited to undertake an interview, to include a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required. Full training will be provided which will take place at our Training Centre in Swindon. Training is full time hours and Monday to Friday for up to 3 weeks. Hotel accommodation is provided and you will be provided a travel pass to enable you to travel.
