Brief Description
As an Asset Engineer Compliance [Drainage & Lineside] within the wider routes Infrastructure Director team, you will focus on drainage & lineside asset management activities in Western route supporting inspection, maintenance & delivery of asset renewals by a civils-based supply chain. You will be part of a strong safety & learning culture, open to new ideas, embrace technology, challenge inefficient processes and provide support to drive data-led accurate decisions.
The role, under the direction of the Route Engineer, includes working with our various data sources, data management & interrogation, including improving & assuring data quality, data collection and verification.
The role supports the management of risks associated with civils-based drainage & lineside assets, will also include works, monitoring trends, and evaluating the effectiveness of delivered works.
Undertake data-driven analytical work on data quality, trends, performance & compliance indicators and failure precursors focusing on civil engineering drainage & lineside assets. Support & investigate asset-related incidents for embedding continuous improvement and learning to the wider organisation while supporting cultural change in the importance of these key civil engineering assets.
The role will involve office-based activities and some site work, involving multiple portfolios to larger works with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
About the role (External)
Here are some of the duties your role will include:
1. Support the monitoring of compliance indicators to assess compliance with civil & off-track engineering standards and initiate follow-up actions.
2. Provide systems engineering support to determine appropriate engineering maintenance regimes and activity volumes for drainage and lineside assets in accordance with company policies, standards, and specifications.
3. Provide a comprehensive system engineering support across delivery units as required.
4. Monitor and strive to improve the technical competence of engineers & operatives associated with drainage & lineside activities.
5. Provide technical support & briefings associated with maintenance engineering.
6. Review and make recommendations on derogation and non-compliance applications to drainage & lineside systems engineering related standards.
7. Input to the development of data analysis work to establish emerging trends in lead indicators as precursors to asset failure.
8. Identify non-compliances against civil standards and engage stakeholders in formulating corrective actions.
9. Participate in drainage and lineside engineering activities in support of assurance processes.
10. Monitor the reliability and performance of assets across the route and instigate corrective actions as required.
11. Participate in investigations and learnings of incidents as required.
What you will bring to the role:
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification & experience in Civil engineering or equivalent
An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
Aware of Construction Design and Management Regulations
Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution
It's desirable if you have it to help give context to the role:
Degree in a relevant subject
