Liaise with all Wards/Departments/Staff as and when required, arranging tests and transfers as required. Greet and direct all visitors, eg patients, patients relatives, GPs, chaplains and representatives to the appropriate member of staff/patient. Answer the telephone and deal with or refer on all incoming calls to the ward staff as appropriate. Receive and distribute post. Contact and arrange work with Estates/Facilities Department, checking at regular intervals that work has been carried out. To pass on messages left in person or by phone between clinicians and nurses relating to patients programmes of care. To provide continuity of presence at the ward reception desk. Manage and maintain the inpatient diary ensuring all details are accurate and up to date and corresponds with PAS. Keep the Bed State up to date (real time) on an agreed and timely basis. Input accurate and timely data onto the PAS system, i.e. patients admitted, transferred, discharged from the ward. Be responsible for the maintenance of patients records, filing all documents in the correct order, including all investigation reports. Check that all documentation is complete when the patient is discharged from the ward, before allowing the notes to leave the ward. Please see the attached job description for full details.
