Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Major Talent is partnered with a global player within the flavours and fragrance industry who have facilities throughout North America, Asia, and the UK. We are looking to speak with candidates for an open Mechanical Maintenance Technician position.
Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for fault diagnosis, routine servicing, repair, maintenance, and testing of complex plant, machinery, and associated components. On occasion, you will also be involved in the installation of machinery used.
Shift Pattern: This is a shift position, working on the 24/7 shift pattern.
Responsibilities:
1. Assemble, position, install, carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on, test and diagnose faults in, repair, remove and replace, and disassemble mechanical equipment and systems in engineering construction plant.
2. Understand the relevant legislative, regulatory, and local requirements or procedures and safe working practices, including responsibilities regarding reporting lines and procedures.
3. Read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, related specifications, quality standards, and equipment manuals, and follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules.
4. Follow relevant training, methods, and techniques, and quality control and safety procedures for their use.
5. Ensure the care and security of tools and equipment used.
6. Identify types of defects and testing anomalies that can occur and what action to take.
7. Handle a range of digital information, technology, and equipment to support work-related tasks and communicate information.
8. Responsibility for the training and development of team members; identifying training interventions and creating/developing competency frameworks based around SOPs and Equipment Instructions.
9. Assessment of team members' competency against the training frameworks for 'on the job' training via an auditing program; maintain records within company systems.
10. Monitor and control overtime working, attendance, and holidays along with managing the performance and discipline of direct reports.
Skills Required:
1. ECITB or other relevant apprenticeship or HNC/D with appropriate experience.
2. Awareness of CompEx working practices.
3. Familiarity with a formal Permit to Work (PTW) system due to the hazardous chemical nature of the working environment.
4. Compliance with a specific company or site Safety Management System (SMS) is required.
5. A working knowledge of food industry practices would be beneficial.
