We are committed to supporting our staff in realizing their potential. You will be supporting and mentoring colleagues to ensure we offer the best care to our patients and clients. Within the team, we have a wide variety of experience from graduates to certificate holders. You will work alongside our Practice Director to set professional and clinical objectives and reach business performance goals. We are proud to be able to offer the right candidate a dedicated progression pathway (Surgical and/or Medical), with plenty of exposure to enable you to further your career and fuel your passions.
Start the rewarding career you deserve
Crown Vets is a reputable training practice; our team enjoys building up the skills and confidence of new graduate vets and working with local colleges to bring on RVNs. Testimonials from our own graduate vets have claimed that “Crown Vets offers excellent support to newly graduated vets. The practice benefits from a large, supportive, and friendly team, enabling our graduates to develop to the best of their ability. Each graduate is given their own dedicated mentor, who is vetGDP trained, allowing for a smooth progression through the vetGDP programme. Support can be found from several vetGDP trained staff in the practice.” Many of the graduates we have supported have stayed on to gain skills through various certificates, developing their own practice and growing our multidisciplinary practice. This highlights the progressive nature of practicing at Crown Vets.
Our sites consist of our main branch in Crown itself where you will get to enjoy the hustle, bustle, and challenge of a busy day. At our Culloden and Canalside practices, you can enjoy sole charge consulting only and our recently launched dedicated OOH practice that is located within our Highland Vet Referrals site. We understand the special relationship that people have with their animals and are committed to providing the individual quality of care our clients deserve. We are in the fortunate position of creating an out of hours service that supports not only Crown Vets but other local practices. With the successful development of Highland Vet Emergencies, our practice team is free to work days without the added pressure of nights and long weekend shifts.
Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.
The full-time position would include working 5 days per week including rotated Saturdays, 8 hours a day. The shifts will be between the hours of 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am - 4 pm on a Saturday. There are no out of hours requirements. The rota and working schedule is carefully devised to ensure scheduled lunch breaks and the ability to leave work on time is maintained.

Our team here consists of 12 Veterinary Surgeons, 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses including 2 Student Nurses. Our clinical team is supported by Veterinary Care Assistants, a Pharmacy Dispenser, a very competent front desk team, and office support staff. The large team means there is always someone nearby to offer support, discuss cases with, and learn from. We believe in good clinical discussions, have twice-daily ward rounds, and regular Vet meetings. We are a friendly team that provides a collaborative and supportive approach.
We are fortunate to have a fantastic close-knit team who strive to create a positive working environment, maintaining the strong bond within. We have regular staff events, activities, and days out, but nothing brings us together like fundraising for our local community. Over the years we have raised over £12,000, completed a 24-hour kennel stay, a 12-hour bike-a-thon, and the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course. We have also raised funds to provide 50 pet oxygen masks to Highland fire stations, outdoor community accessible defibrillators at our 3 sites, and have created our own pet food bank to distribute throughout our local area.
Inverness is a city with good shopping, cafes, live music venues, restaurants, and bars. We have a theatre (Eden Court) which hosts musicals, plays, and ballet; and not forgetting the numerous outdoor music events during the Summer. The Highlands are certainly the place to be for those with a passion for the outdoors - the scenery is second to none and there is endless opportunity for walking, wild swimming, camping, and paddle boarding! Inverness caters to families with an array of festivals and child-friendly events. There is a leisure centre and pool with waterslides, ice skating rink, climbing wall, many parks, and petting farms, to name a few! Many of the primary and high schools in the area have very good reputations and rankings in Scotland.
