HammondCare is an independent Christian charity specialising in dementia care, palliative care, and rehabilitation, specialist mental health for older people and other health and aged services.
Job Description
Spread Joy by joining our Volunteer Team!
The HammondCare Volunteer program is a great way for you to make a meaningful difference in the life of an older person, right here in South West Sydney.
As a Volunteer Social Visitor, you will provide companionship and meaningful social interaction for older people living in your community.
We are seeking a Volunteer to take their friendly four-legged companion for short visits to an elderly brother at a supported living campus in Gregory Hills. Our client is a huge fan of dogs and is missing having a pet of his own. See what a difference your furry friend can make!
As you're bringing your pet into a care environment with frail and elderly people, we ask that your pet is:
1. Calm and gentle in nature
2. Up-to-date with vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas
3. Nails should be short and blunt. Freshly cut nails can be sharp if not filed down.
4. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times
Impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience for both the person you visit and yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
1. 18 years or older
2. National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
3. Working with children's check
We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a 30-minute to one-hour visit between 9 am and 4 pm, Monday to Sunday. Visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
