Job summary SUBSTANTIVE CONSULTANT IN PAEDIATRIC HAEMATOLOGY Applications are invited for an up to 10PA consultant post in Paediatric Haematology. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to take join our team of haematologists (currently 6.2 WTE equivalent in haematology including this post) delivering care to children with acute leukaemia and benign haematology in the South West. The post holder will join a team of 14 consultants delivering paediatric haematology, oncology, stem cell transplant and aftercare services to the South West and beyond. The post is based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC). The post will focus on two main areas, haemostasis and leukaemia. They will take a significant role in the delivery of care for patients with inherited bleeding disorders and other aspects of paediatric haemostasis. As part of this role they will be expected to deliver haemophilia outreach clinics across the South West. This post will also take part in the benign haematology attending rota including consultative haematology for Bristol and the South West, and including specific in reach ward rounds for paediatric intensive care where there is a large paediatric cardio-thoracic workload. Main duties of the job The remaining aspects of this role will be to contribute to the paediatric leukaemia service at BRHC. However, for suitable applicants it is possible to include further aspects of benign haematology within the job plan instead of malignant haematology.On call responsibilities are 1 in 5 out of hours second on call for benign paediatric haematology and 1 in 10 weekend first on call for malignant haem-onc-BMT if the post-holder takes on a malignant haematology role.Applicants will be required to have FRCPath/MRCPCH/MRCP (or equivalent).Applications would be considered from applicants working less than full time and early discussions about job plans in that situation with a leukaemia or a benign haematology focus would be welcome.The Division will consider an application for relocation costs in line with our trust policy, please state at the time of your offer if you wish to take this up.
