Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 physiotherapist to work at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post is a part-time Band 6 rotational post within the speciality of Orthopaedics.
The successful applicant will join our friendly teams and work between North Tyneside General Hospital, Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital at Cramlington, Wansbeck General Hospital and Hexham General Hospital within the in-patient orthopaedic team. Rotations will include elective orthopaedics at all sites across the trust, acute trauma, trauma rehabilitation and work into the Bone Infection Unit.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the seven-day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services.
The successful candidate may be required to contribute to the respiratory service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital. This includes an evening shadow on call rota and occasional nightshift commitment.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills with both the multidisciplinary team and peers. There must be evidence of continued professional development demonstrating experience to support applications.
Applicants will be expected to participate in our 7-day working rota. It is noted that in the future some posts may not be traditional Monday to Friday as we embrace full 7 day working.
Applicants should note that they will be expected to work a shift pattern which will include shifts until 8pm.
It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
The successful candidate must also contribute to student education, support the day-to-day leadership and organisation of the team and provide a high standard of physiotherapy care in each rotation within orthopaedics including elective and trauma.

* To assess, diagnose and treat an independent clinical caseload within the orthopaedics
* To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of more experienced highly specialist senior physiotherapy staff
* To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care through one of the following; 1) a full range of specialist areas including musculo-skeletal, orthopaedics, elderly care, general medicine, respiratory, neurology, paediatrics, womens health, front of house, surgery and ITU. The rotational element of the role develops individuals specialist skills across a range of therapeutic modalities. 2) a static post within one of the above sub-specialist teams. This role will incorporate inpatient, outpatient and community activity in both primary and secondary care settings and support the development of specialist skills and knowledge.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration Essential
* BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent experience and/or qualification
* Registered Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Evidence of continued professional development through self directed learning, in-service training record and attendance at relevant short post graduate courses.
Desirable
* Student training qualification provided by University
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Experience and knowledge Essential
* Candidates should have completed their post graduate core rotations.
* Evidence of developing neuro-muscular handling skills

* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
* Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
