The Eating Disorder Service is developing a medical monitoring service for patients at risk of developing medical complications of their eating disorder. It has now appointed a consultant psychiatrist and is looking to appoint a multidisciplinary team including a GP and nursing staff. The longer-term goal is for the Willows to undertake routine medical monitoring of patients with eating disorders who are under the care of the service.
Main duties of the job
Duties can be found on the attached job description and person specification.
A GP is not expected to have expertise in mental health or eating disorders beyond the level of a GP when they commence their role. They will be closely supported by a consultant psychiatrist and be provided with relevant training to develop the necessary expertise to be able to work with greater independence over time. It is expected that after a reasonable period of time in the role they will be able to practice independently for most aspects but can access clinical supervision from a consultant psychiatrist as needed.
