Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust invites applications for a substantive Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in gynaecological cancer. This is an exciting opportunity to work and join a highly motivated and well-supported multi-disciplinary team.

IGRT, VMAT and 4D-CT are in routine use and a linac replacement programme to four cutting-edge Varian Trubeams (complete with 6 degree of freedom couches and 4D-CBCT) completed in 2020. Interstitial brachytherapy was introduced in 2020, SABR for lung primaries commenced in 2021 and SABR for oligometastatic disease (bone and nodal metastases) commenced in December 2023. We have commissioned our new treatment planning software, Raystation, in use from May 2024.
Portsmouth Cancer Centre based at Queen Alexandra Hospital provides Oncological Services to West Sussex (Chichester) and the Isle of Wight. We are a friendly and integrated Centre embracing enhanced radiographer, nursing and pharmacy roles, and actively encouraging research and innovation. A new postgraduate Portsmouth Medical School opened September 2024, opening opportunities for academic and educational appointments.
This is a 10 PA post, but applicants wishing to work less than full time are most welcome to discuss their requirements. In addition to gynaecological cancer, a second tumour type will be combined, which can include Urology, Upper GI, Lymphoma, or non-melanoma skin depending on hours preferred. We would be very happy to discuss options depending on the candidate’s interests.
