The Finance Manager is a newly created senior role of critical importance for the success of the finance function. You will be managing the two more junior members of the finance team and reporting to the Financial Controller (FC), who has overall responsibility for the global finance function at TympaHealth.
The primary initial focus will be to take ownership of all finance activity relating to customers (managing the sales ledger and credit control, responses to customer queries and supporting colleagues in customer-facing departments). Ultimately the intention is for this role to take responsibility for all aspects of UK accounting, financial operations, and external reporting/compliance.
The Finance Manager role will therefore be critical in delivering effective, efficient, and scalable financial operations as the Company grows and in elevating finance to better support business decisions and the formulation/execution of strategic plans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to the focus on customer-related finance activity, other key responsibilities include working with the FC on general ledger accounting and overseeing Accounts Payable (AP) activity undertaken by the Assistant Accountant. (Rough estimates of % time use included below for guidance only.)
1. Managing Assistant Accountant and Credit Controller.
2. Overseeing all Accounts Receivable aspects (50%), including:
o Accounting and control of customer invoicing, billing changes, cancellations, credit notes, and refunds.
o Credit control.
o Overall management of sales ledger.
o Ensuring timely and appropriate responses to queries from customers and colleagues in customer-facing departments.
3. General Ledger / Accounting (10%)
o Contributing to and working with the FC in managing the month-end close, balance sheet control, and annual accounting/audit.
4. Accounts Payable and Working Capital (5%)
o Supporting FC with control and approval of spend/expenses and payments and cash management.
o Overseeing Assistant Accountant's management of Accounts Payable.
5. External Reporting
o Review and submission of VAT and P11D filings.
o Supporting external accountants as needed with payroll, corporation tax, and companies house filings.
6. Project work as appropriate and as capacity allows, including:
o Supporting evaluation and implementation of Subscriptions Management/Billing solution.
7. Performing other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate would be fully qualified/chartered ACA/ACCA/CIMA with solid UK accounting/compliance knowledge and experience of external audit. You will have developed excellent skills with Excel and some data manipulation techniques. You are experienced in managing others and are someone for whom our team values resonate strongly.
Essential Skills/Experience
Technical
* Passed all professional accounting exams (CIMA/ACA/ACCA).
* Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and VAT reporting/compliance; knowledge (e.g. via ACA/ACCA) or practical experience of external audit.
* In-house accounting and finance operations experience including Accounts Receivable responsibility.
* Excellent Excel skills.
Personal
* Experience managing others.

* High level of numerical analytical aptitude.

Desirable
* Fully qualified/chartered with verified practical experience (CIMA/ACA/ACCA).
* Experience in external audit or leading the audit process internally (UK); prior responsibility for preparing or auditing financial statements for UK entities and balance sheet control.
* Exposure to finance processes/infrastructure in an established company and/or of successfully establishing these in a scale-up.
* Prior responsibility for Accounts Payable and General Ledger and experience of Credit Control processes in a high-volume B2B business.
* Advanced Excel including financial modeling principles; understanding of relational data models and data manipulation techniques.
* Experience using Xero, Salesforce, Zahara, and Expensify.
* Experience in a SaaS business, SaaS metrics, and/or subscription/billing management tools.
As the company grows and expands over time this role has the potential to develop into that of UK Financial Controller/Finance Director.
