We are seeking a Design Desktop Planner to join our team.
Job Title: Desktop Planner
Location: Office based – NI or GB
Role Summary:
You will work within the Planning and Design department to build and design the route of the fibre network. You will create designs based on information provided by the surveying team and provide solutions to problems that arise in the route planning.
The Responsibilities
1. Scheduling and prioritisation of planning work activities
2. Creation of low-level and high-level designs
3. Progress reporting on planning work activities
4. Owning, executing, and delivering planning requirements within a geographic region
5. Carry out detailed survey work in your area, meeting design specifications for civils and fibre build
6. Creation of efficient and accurate detailed job packs
7. Good understanding of build disciplines, including all accompanying documentation for utility stats, street gazetteer, detailed network plans with work point instructions, CDM, BoM, etc.
8. Liaison with local authority agents and other third parties as part of the overall planning role
9. Highlight and escalate major design variances to the planning base
10. Flexible approach in dealing with amendments to planned information
11. Ensure accurate completion of all planned submissions and work is completed on time
12. Become proficient in highlighting and escalating major design variances
The Person
1. Access Network Planning experience
2. GIS experience (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS)
3. Demonstrable experience of fibre network design, FTTX, CDM
4. External site survey experience; NRSWA, Unit 2 Street Works Signing, Lighting & Guarding accreditation
5. S11/S13 Accreditations
6. Planning knowledge out to the homes, across legacy and current telco access network topologies
7. Proven track record of planning successful projects
8. Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
9. Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
10. Able to identify and work with key stakeholders inside and outside of the business
11. Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
12. A strong team player with initiative, strong organisation, and the desire to succeed
13. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
14. A total awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures
15. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate – MS Word, Excel, Omnigraffle
