Your new role
An opportunity for an experienced broadcast journalist, with excellent news judgement and a passion for breaking stories, to join LBC on a full-time basis in the role of LBC North East Reporter.
Reporting to your Regional News Editor, you’ll deliver outstanding coverage of the biggest stories across your region, and report for Global’s other brands including Classic FM, Capital, Heart and Smooth.
You’ll know your region inside out, have a good eye for a local story that could make a national headline and have the right contacts to speak to, so that you can deliver it on-air.
You’ll be brimming with ideas and creative ways to treat them, have a great voice, excellent writing skills and a detailed understanding of Ofcom regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Understand the issues affecting your region and the stories that matter to our listeners.
2. Ensure your stories are heard on our national news talk brand, LBC, and on our rolling news station, LBC News.
3. Deliver reports in vision, when required.
4. Utilize the full range of social and multi-media tools available for a successful multi-platform news experience.
5. Possess sound legal judgement and proficiency in Ofcom’s broadcast regulations and guidelines.
6. Maintain a great range of contacts and forge new relationships across the region.
7. Be flexible to cover the big stories whenever and wherever they happen.

What You’ll Need
1. Project Management Skills: Confident working independently and under the guidance of Senior colleagues to provide on-target, agenda-setting news content.
2. Curiosity & Creativity: Passionate about news, eager to investigate and create outstanding and exclusive stories.
3. Broadcasting & Communication Skills: Commanding on-air presence and confident in reporting live into LBC and LBC News.
4. Flexibility & Positivity: Enjoy working flexible hours and strive to complete tasks to a high standard.
5. Regional Expertise: Knowledge and understanding of key issues affecting the lives of people in your region.
6. A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
7. This is a field-based role; you'll be comfortable working remotely, with support from teams in Glasgow, Manchester and London.
