Our client is a renowned construction contractor, known for producing bespoke high end residential properties and developments. With projects based around Kent, they are looking for a talented quantity surveyor with previous experience in highly premium projects, with the expectation of expanding the company further. Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring effective cost management, preparing detailed estimates and assessing potential project variations (changes to scope).
* Assisting in the selection of contractors and sub-contractors, preparing tender documents, conducting evaluations and preparing recommendations for supplier and contractor selections.
* Being thorough in contract management, negotiation and any potential dispute resolution.
* Having a rigid approach to valuations of the different quantities on site and ensuring accurate valuations to ensure the correct payments are made.
* Identifying and managing financial risks, ensuring accurate reporting of the financial status of projects and advising clients of potential issues that could impact financial costs.
* Preparing regular cost reports, financial assessments and forecasts for clients, project managers and senior managers. Ensuring detailed records of contracts, changes and financial data are kept throughout the process.
* Regularly liaising with the client, keeping them aware of costs, timelines and any potential changes to the project. Additionally, providing expert advice on how to manage costs without compromising the quality of the project.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, civil engineering or a related field. Master's degree in quantity surveying is advantageous.
* Chartered status (MRICS) is desirable.
* Proficient in quantity surveying software and knowledge of construction processes and materials.
* Prior experience in quantity surveying or construction cost management, ideally in high end residential projects.
* Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, organisation and problem-solving skills.
* Strong knowledge of building codes, construction laws and health and safety regulations.
* String financial acumen, with the ability to manage and control project budgets.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a versatile team.
