Our Major Infrastructure team are involved in a number of major infrastructure projects, more widely known as Nationally Significant Infrastructure projects, or NSIPs and other accelerated infrastructure schemes. They are transformational projects that, if delivered, could contribute greatly to Anglian Water’s purpose (to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve through our commitment to love every drop) and meeting our strategic direction objectives.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Director-level individual to join our team. This is a client-sided role to support the Cambridge project to ensure that it successfully delivers the businesses strategic and resilience asset needs and customer outcomes.
The role will provide leadership and strategic input as a member of the Cambridge Waste-Water Treatment Relocation Project (CWWTRP) Management Team.
Key accountabilities:
* Be accountable for the overall commercial and cost performance of CWWTRP (including both Anglian Water and Consortia elements – the latter in-so-far as holding the consortia to account for pre-agreed budgets).
* Build strong partner relationships to drive collaboration and integration. Utilise these to achieve better value.
* Lead and manage the Commercial and Performance Management teams in CWWTRP to deliver the allocated investment programme with outperformance.
* Develop an overall performance structure that includes all performance and efficiency measures including TOTEX targets and investment profile. Manage and report on KPI and KRMs.
* Be responsible for cost and performance indicator assurance across CWWTRP.
* Be responsible for high level reporting and validation of all CWWTRP performance measures for a Balanced Scorecard approach.
* Support the development of the right culture, behaviours and organisation, employees, and supply chain.
* Liaise with senior stakeholders - manage, and deliver their expectations.
* Support the Commercial team to establish, sustain, and maintain leading edge procurement and commercial models that drive the right behaviours and deliver successful outcomes.
* Ensure the commercial model enables the partners to achieve the right balance of behaviours across H&S, Innovation, Sustainability, Commercial, People, Systems and Processes.
* Contribute to (via Lessons Learned and value-add initiatives gained on CWWTRP) future investment programme Strategic Planning.
* Own, manage and report on CWWTRP initiatives plan (White Book).
What will you be doing:
* Providing visible Health, Safety and Wellbeing leadership.
* Actively promote and achieve Health & Safety objectives by demonstrating the importance of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
* Manage and report on the financial position of CWWTRP utilising the Client’s commercial systems.
* Ensure the business plan is fully supported with “fit for purpose” financial and commercial processes to enable regular and accurate updates & reporting.
* Develop and manage a commercial performance structure for CWWTRP.
* Ensure programme & project performance is visible and accessible to the teams, individuals and suppliers to drive deliverables and outperformance.
* Use collaboration and integration to better understand partner commercial and back-office systems.
* Be responsible for the overall integration and commercial performance of supply chain.
* As a member of the CWWTRP management team, contribute to the design and development of the organisational structure and processes.

What does it take to be successful?
* Experience in senior leadership role.
* Significant experience of Project & Programme Construction delivery from ‘cradle to grave’.
* Knowledge of Utility Operations.
* Experience in change management.
* Management experience in a commercial contracting environment.
* Proven ability in delivering business objectives at a strategic level.
* Proven experience in developing best practice.
