Principal Accountabilities
Inventory Management:
* Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, including receiving, storing, and issuing stock.
* Conducting regular stock counts to ensure accuracy and prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
* Monitoring stock levels and identifying slow-moving or obsolete items for appropriate action.
Stock Control Procedures:
* Developing and implementing stock control procedures to optimise efficiency and minimize errors.
* Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures related to stock management.
* Investigating and resolving discrepancies in stock records.
Order Processing and Fulfilment:
* Processing incoming orders and preparing shipments accurately and efficiently.
* Coordinating with purchasing and sales teams to fulfil orders on time.
* Handling returns, exchanges, and damaged goods in accordance with company policies.
Systems and Technology:
* Utilizing inventory management software or systems to track stock movements, generate reports, and analyse data.
* Providing input on system enhancements or improvements to streamline processes.
Communication and Collaboration:
* Liaising with other departments such as purchasing, logistics, and sales to coordinate stock-related activities.
* Communicating effectively with suppliers regarding stock levels, deliveries, and quality issues.
Quality Control:
* Ensuring the quality and condition of incoming and outgoing stock meet company standards.
* Implementing measures to prevent damage, loss, or theft of stock.
Continuous Improvement:
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
* Participating in regular meetings or reviews to discuss performance metrics and suggest improvements.
Health and Safety:
* Adhering to health and safety regulations in the handling and storage of stock.
* Promoting a safe working environment and reporting any hazards or incidents.
Inventory Accuracy:
* Ensuring accurate stock levels through regular stock counts and reconciliations.
* Investigating and resolving discrepancies in stock records promptly.
Stock Management:
* Receiving, storing, and issuing stock in accordance with company procedures.
* Monitoring stock levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintaining accurate inventory records and documentation.
* Generating reports on stock levels, trends, and variances as required.
Compliance:
* Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures related to stock management.
* Adhering to health and safety regulations in the handling and storage of stock.
System and Process Improvement:
* Utilizing inventory management systems to optimize processes and workflows.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Training and Development:
* Providing training and guidance to stockroom staff on stock control procedures and best practices.
* Supporting the development of team members to improve performance and productivity.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Minimum 4 GCSEs (Maths / English) grades A-C.
* 1 – 2 years experience in a stock controller/stock management role.
* Understanding inventory management principles.
* Good problem-solving / high level of numeracy and organisational skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Problem-solving abilities.
* Adaptability.
* Initiative.
* Customer Focused.
* IPAF trained (Desirable).
