Head of Safeguarding and Pastoral
Greater Manchester
Interim - £350 per day (negotiable)
Immediate start
The purpose of the role is to provide effective management and leadership of statutory safeguarding (in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024) and the development, planning, delivery and monitoring of student support and experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the development, implementation and management of provision within the Department.
* Ensure that the support arrangements meet the needs of the student population, in line with statutory guidance and Ofsted DfE expectations.
* To fully embrace being a 'Leader of Learning’ and ensure the delivery of outstanding safeguarding and pastoral support within the Department, sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality provision.
* Ensure compliance with college Policy and local, regional and national safeguarding and pastoral guidelines and legislation.
* Monitor key performance data and implement associated remedial actions, ensuring compliance and accuracy at all times.
* Line manage staff including providing support, appraisals, identifying development needs and opportunities and managing performance in line with college HR procedures.
* Effectively manage resources in line with budget allocations.
Requirements:
* Degree Level Qualification or relevant industrial experience or professional qualification.
* Recognised teaching qualification.
* Numeracy and literacy skills (to level 2 or equivalent).
* Must have experience of leading Safeguarding arrangements in an Education setting i.e. as a Designated Professional with operational responsibility for safeguarding.
* Exceptional knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable students with unmet safeguarding or pastoral support needs.
* Must have credibility in assessing and advising safeguarding/pastoral matters and providing effective supervision for safeguarding and pastoral themes.
* Significant experience of managing safeguarding and pastoral risk factors and the provision of effective 'Early Help’.
* Proven track record of management of a large and diverse team.
* Must have experience in quality assurance/control processes and procedure and in particular SAR processes and business planning.
* Experience of effective resource and performance management utilising computerised management information systems.
* Experience of staff training and appraisal.
* Demonstration of ability and vision in developing the curriculum.
* Interpersonal leadership skills.
