POSITION SUMMARY
This position predominantly holds responsibility for commercial Supplier Relationship Management with respect to suppliers and for direct activities for Materials and Stores personnel. It is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Department. The role has both tactical and strategic elements, and the position holder will be actively engaged in supporting the development of suppliers to Newport. The position holder will work actively to consolidate existing supply relationships and identify and develop new suppliers or transition where deemed appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/OBJECTIVES
1. Drives sourcing and strategy development to achieve a competitive cost structure.
2. Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of Materials and Stores personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
3. Develops technical and commercial solutions to existing supply chain constraints.
4. Demonstrates a high level of technical and commercial awareness when engaging with suppliers.
5. Focuses on developing and maintaining long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure the company attains profitability and customer satisfaction goals.
6. Manages all relations with the Supply Base including Request For Quotes, Quotation Analysis, Negotiations, Supplier Selection and Supplier Development, Contract Development, and Continuous Improvement where applicable.
7. Develops expertise in factors such as product knowledge, applications/usage, processing knowledge, cost structure, global market, supplier capabilities, supplier market share, supplier benchmarking, etc.
8. Collaborates with managers to determine supply needs and forward forecasts.
9. Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
10. Implements, manages, and monitors Procurement and Materials reporting systems to meet company requirements.
11. Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
AUTONOMY
Must be self-motivated/directed. Required to determine most of own work assignments; both tactical and strategic. Must possess tenacity, passion, and a determination to get things done whilst considering all other aspects of business impact. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives. Must uphold the highest code of ethics and values consistent with Newport expectations.
