We are looking to offer a Payroll Specialist the opportunity to join our expanding People Services team based in Stevenage, on a 8 month fixed term contract.
About the team
This role forms part of the energetic People Services team, one part of the wider People team, in an ever-growing business. The team is made up of 23 which includes a team of Payroll specialists and Transactional coordinators, who work alongside this role in providing services to around 11,000 colleagues. There is lots of change and plenty of things to fix with a real opportunity to make an impact.
About the role
You will have full responsibility for the delivery of expert payroll services to allocated pay companies. Completing returns and payroll data third parties including HMRC, pension providers, Courts and Child Support Agency.
This role offers hybrid working and the expectation is to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, this will be higher on payroll week.
As the Payroll Specialist, you’ll get the opportunity to:
* Process allocated payrolls across different pay frequencies including weekly and monthly.
* Administers and runs all payrolls across the Group in accordance with operating procedures and deadlines ensuring they are processed efficiently, effectively and accurately.
* Completes all third-party returns including to HMRC, pension providers, Courts and Child Support Agency.
* Work closely with Payroll Manager and the payroll team to transition any new payrolls in the Payroll Team.
* Ensure the operational delivery of payroll services to the agreed customer service levels.
* Timely management of day to day pay related matters including responding to pay and pension queries.
* Ensure compliance on all pay related statutory and legislative requirements.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR.
* Identify and recommend continuous improvement to processes.
What you’ll bring?
* Sound Payroll Knowledge – Experience of delivering payroll services as part of a team preferably in an Oracle environment alongside any statutory or legislative requirements.
* Best Practice Knowledge - Strong understanding of Payroll processes and practices. Previous experience working in a Payroll role is essential.
* Business Acumen – an understanding of the Group's and operational division's business processes, industry, and market. Ability to use business knowledge to provide valuable insights and drive HR initiatives.
* Adaptability – a preference to be flexible and adaptable in response to changing business needs. The ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
* Communication - excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills. The ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner and skilled at presenting your point of view persuasively using compelling language and evidence.
* Change Management - ability to navigate and lead through organisational change, particularly in the context of a rapidly growing business.
* Results-Driven - proven record of delivering stretching targets with drive and resilience. A focus on achieving measurable results and key performance indicators, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and optimization of processes.
