We currently have a vacancy for a senior and experienced Operations Manager for our Major Projects & National Clients Teams. This role is a national role and can be based from any of our depots across England and Wales but will require frequent travel.
Leading our growing portfolio of exciting Major Projects across the UK. The Operations Manager will ensure Core Highways is the leading TTM contractor in the sector based on a reputation of operational excellence and ability to support our clients deliver their major projects safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Managing Director (MP&NC) the Operations Manager will bring wider influence and expertise across the business acting as a key member of the MP&NC Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
* Act as a key participant in Commercial Handover and Mobilisation meetings, understand and implement the tender operational strategy working with your Project Managers to meet or exceed safety, profit, carbon and customer satisfaction targets.
* Develop, update and submit project programmes in compliance with the contract.
* Working with your Project Managers develop, maintain and review forward resource plans on each project hand-in-hand with the Regions business to ensure the required levels of labour, vehicles and equipment are provided.
* Liaise closely with specialist supply chain, including temporary road marking, vehicle recovery, temporary barrier and technology suppliers, to deliver in accordance with the project programme.
* Directly oversee complex and critical operations on site as required.
* Ensure completion, review and submission of all required RAMS in accordance with our Integrated Management System and client/project requirements.
* Undertake Visible Felt Leadership tours and site audits to develop a culture of
* Ensure all operations within the MP&NC portfolio are compliant to all appropriate legislation, standards and codes of practice.
* Undertake regular client satisfaction and feedback meetings.
* Working closely with the Commercial Team ensure all operations are valued and billed in a timely fashion to maximise profit and cash, and ensure any change is effectively managed and recorded.
* Present project updates and performance at the monthly Project Review Meetings.
* Scrutinise project performance (safety, programme and commercial) and implement continual improvement plans.
* Lead, identify, communicate and embed emerging industry and client standards, best practice and innovation across our business.
* Provide operational advice to our key clients.
* Maintain and improve the operational governance processes across our business.
* Ensure that the operational teams are working with central functions delivering synergy and efficiency.
* Align projects to deliver the outcomes required from our Social Value and Net Zero Strategies.
* Support development of technical solutions, programmes and resource schedules for major project tenders working collaboratively with our estimators, project managers and members of our Work Winning Centre of Excellence.
* Engage with clients (potential and current) to develop temporary traffic management solutions to their complex and major projects. These solutions will be industry leading and help Core Highways and our clients win work, reduce programmes, cost and carbon, and enhance safety and customer care.
* Lead the relationship with key MP&NC clients, such as Tier 1 Contractors, National Highways and Rail customers. Develop senior level relationships to drive a partnership approach and increase the amount of revenue with these clients. Ensure successful relationships with key customers are developed and maintained throughout MP&NC and in Region as appropriate.
* Establish and manage strategic partnerships with suppliers that help us secure and profitably deliver the MP&NC portfolio.
Experience required:
* Extensive experience of highways services and specifically the temporary traffic management sector and associated roadworks activities.
* Proven track record of delivering temporary traffic management across complex contracts and frameworks on both high and low speed networks
* Extensive knowledge of legislation, standards, guidance and best practice in the temporary traffic management sector, including for National Highways.
* Understanding and experience of common highway construction and associated assets in a major projects setting.
* Established network and strong relationships with senior operational leads across the UK highway sector including national and local government and Tier 1 contractors.
* IHE TTME Diploma and Ieng/EngTech preferred.
* Proactive and people centric leadership skills with a proven ability to engage and inspire technical and engineering
