Mechanical and Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About the Role:
We are looking for a Mechanical OR Electrical Commissioning Engineer with a proven track background in Building Services to join a leading organisation in the Nuclear and Defence sector. This role involves overseeing and executing complex commissioning activities within a highly regulated environment, ensuring systems are fully functional, compliant, and aligned with project requirements.
The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning mechanical OR electrical building services within highly regulated environments, particularly in Nuclear, Defence, or similarly complex industries. You will be responsible for coordinating commissioning activities, writing and reviewing commissioning documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Supervision & Execution: Oversee onsite commissioning activities, ensuring safe, accurate, and fully compliant testing.
✅ Documentation & Governance: Prepare, review, and submit commissioning procedures and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) for approval.
✅ Safety & Risk Management: Identify potential hazards (e.g., live terminals, moving parts without shielding) and implement necessary control measures.
✅ Planning & Coordination: Plan onsite commissioning activities, coordinate with other working parties, and attend site planning meetings.
✅ System Compliance: Ensure boundaries and isolations are established before commissioning begins and that final plant configuration aligns with approved commissioning documents.
✅ Technical Problem-Solving: Raise commissioning reservations and work closely with engineering teams to resolve issues.
Essential Experience:
✔ Extensive commissioning experience within Building Services and highly regulated environments.
✔ Expertise in commissioning supply and extract ventilation, vacuum systems, environmental and mechanical systems.
✔ Electrical pre-commissioning of mechanical systems, including static inverters and UPS systems.
✔ Experience working with commissioning completion systems (preferred).
✔ Proven ability to write and review technical commissioning documents and follow strict compliance protocols.
Qualifications & Clearance:
🔹 Security Clearance: SC or DV (or eligibility to obtain).
🔹 CSCS Card: Required in a relevant field.
🔹 Strong understanding of industry safety protocols and quality standards.
