Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner – Complex Care Services/Supported Living (West Midlands and North West)
Salary £42k with a £3k car allowance. *Ideally Staffordshire based*
Aspirations Care are on the lookout for a experienced PBS Practitioner
Main Responsibility
1. Undertake referral assessments when required to support our operational colleagues.
2. Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals (., Psychology, Psychiatry, ICB, IST/ICATT, CPN, OT, RC, Social Worker, CPI Training Team, Mental Health or LD Nurse, Challenging Behaviour Foundation) to promote the rights of people we support.
3. Complete the full process to develop PBS plans, direct and indirect assessments.
4. Review the efficacy of PBSPs using positive monitoring.
5. Assist with transitions programmes for people moving into their new home, using appropriate Company documentation.
6. In partnership with the leadership team and support workers, generate Positive Behaviour Support Plans for service users and ensure the ongoing review of the appropriateness to their needs.
7. Promote the Restraint Reduction Training Standards by demonstrating our commitment to endorsing the rights of individuals whose distress communication has been described as challenging and reducing the use of restrictive practice.
8. Cultivate a shared understanding of the function of behaviour and develop strategies which help the person develop an alternative method of communicating to achieve the same purpose.
9. Ensure outcome data relating to distress communication events is collected, analysed and reviewed in a timely manner.
10. Deliver CPD sessions to teams when required
11. Work alongside other business support departments for the benefit of those in receipt of support.
12. Promote and input into the development of a reflective organisational culture that learns from experience and draws on this learning to improve outcomes for people we support
13. Support co-production by involving people we support in their care and support
14. Have excellent organisational skills to manage a caseload and plan intervention, coaching and liaison effectively given the often-unpredictable nature of demand.
15. Practice Leadership by leading by example and on occasions being on shift with staff to support the implementation of the strategies where appropriate.

17. Be qualified or willing and able to work towards CPI Safety Intervention Instructor
The Ideal Candidate
18. Have experience of providing support to people utilising the framework of PBS
19. Have a full driving licence and access to own vehicle (Car Allowance Included)
20. Be prepared to regularly travel as required for service visits and meetings.
21. Person centred beliefs, values and attitude
22. Excellent communication skills
23. The ability to work as part of a team in a leadership capacity, leading and influencing others positively
24. An in depth understanding of the principals of Positive Behaviour Support and Principals of Applied Behaviour Analysis
25. A history in conducting behavioural assessment and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions for individuals
26. A history of direct support experience with people with a learning disability and/or Autism, and behaviours of concern
27. A history of reducing the use of restrictive practices
28. A history of the delivery of Positive Behaviour Support training
29. Excellent record keeping and written skills including report writing
30. Detailed understanding of the legal frameworks and policy relevant to the role,. Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS, Safeguarding, risk management
31. Have integrity and resilience to provide the best possible services to the people we are entrusted to support.
32. Understands the importance of identifying strategies that reduce or prevent the use of restrictive practices.
33. Have the ability to overcome barriers and embrace opportunities to explore creative thinking.
34. Hold a formal qualification in: or Positive Behaviour Support. BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies, PBS Graduate Diploma, PBS BTEC Level 5 (advanced professional Diploma)
