About the role:
The role of the invigilator is to ensure that the examination is conducted according to JCQ and COPC instructions in order to:
1. Ensure all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
2. Ensure the security of the examination before, during and after the examination.
3. Prevent possible candidate malpractice.
4. Prevent possible administrative failures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To keep exam papers and materials secure at all times and returning as instructed.
2. To ensure exam rooms are set out to standard JCQ regulations.
3. To admit candidates into exam rooms, checking for unauthorised materials e.g. pencil cases, mobile phones etc.
4. To deal with candidate queries, without providing specific help or guidance.
5. To supervise candidates at all times and compliant with standards.
6. To record/report any irregularities including completing the necessary paperwork during exams e.g. late arrivals etc.
7. To collect exam scripts adhering to the correct procedure, ensuring that these are checked against the attendance registers.
8. To attend training, refresher or review sessions, or complete electronic training as required.
9. To be prepared to invigilate ‘on-screen’ assessments.
